How to setup a bar tab
NOTE: This article assumes there is a product already setup in the system e.g. "Bar Tab". When this product is setup, it should be setup with a Sales Price of -$1.
1. In the POS, click on "Orders" (top right of screen)
2. Click "New Order", and give the Order a name appropriate for the group using the tab e.g. ASB Bank
3. Add the "Bar Tab" product to the Order, with a quantity of the amount for the tab. E.g. If the tab is $1,000, then set the quantity to be $1,000
This tab/order is now setup ready to begin adding products to the tab.
As each person comes to the bar to add something to the tab:
4. Click on the Orders button (top right), and select the group name you created previously. e.g. ASB Bank
5. Click the product they are ordering, e.g. Heineken
6. To add the item to the tab, click on the hold icon (top right) to complete the sale and add it to the ASB Bank order/tab.
At any time someone comes up to add an item to the tab, repeat steps 4, 5, 6.
You will see the amount remaining on the tab at bottom right. This should be monitored to ensure the group is informed when the tab is getting close to running out or finished.
When closing off the bar tab
NOTE: This Check Out process should only be used when the group has completely finished for the day.
Only once the group has finished should you complete these steps:
1. In the POS, remove the "Bar Tab" product from the Order for the group. By removing this bar tab product line item, it will leave the order with the sales required to be paid.
2. To close the tab - Click "Check Out"
3. Follow the normal Check Out process
- for payment on the day, select EFTPOS, Cash etc.
- for payment via invoice, select On Account and link it to the appropriate customer.
